  • We start with the site conditions: sun exposure, aspect, soil, drainage and how the space is used. From there, we look at the overall feel you're after and the maintenance level that's realistic for you. Plant selection follows those constraints, not the other way around.

  • Yes, plant selection and planting is available as a standalone service. If you have an established garden that just needs refreshing or finishing, we can assess the site and recommend and install a considered planting scheme without a full build scope.

  • Yes. We source and supply plants as part of the service, which means we can stand behind the selection and the installation together.

  • It depends on the species and conditions, but most planting looks settled within one to two growing seasons. We'll give you realistic expectations for each plant and advise on watering during establishment.

  • Yes, and it's one of the most common briefs we work with. Low maintenance doesn't mean sparse. The right plant selection in garden design means choosing species that suit the conditions, need minimal intervention and still feel considered and full.

  • Usually, yes. If you're undertaking a broader design and build or garden renovation, planting is typically planned and installed as part of that scope.

  • Proper soil preparation is as important as the plant choice. We condition the soil before planting, use appropriate mulch, space plants correctly for their mature size, and integrate irrigation where it's available. A well-prepared bed makes a significant difference to how quickly and reliably plants establish.

  • Yes. Privacy planting is a common part of our work; choosing species that are fast enough to do the job, suited to the site conditions, and won't become a maintenance problem. We'll advise on what's realistic for your boundary and timeframe.

  • We'll work around what's there. If existing plants are worth retaining, we'll incorporate them into the overall scheme. If something isn't performing or doesn't suit the direction, we'll flag it honestly and let you decide.
