Good garden lighting is subtle. It makes outdoor areas safer and easier to use, brings out texture in planting and hardscapes, and gives the whole garden a finished feel after dark, without looking overdone.

We'll advise on what's worth lighting and what isn't; the right placement, the right fittings, and the right amount. The goal is always a result that feels considered rather than busy, and that still looks tidy during the day.

Garden lighting is available as a standalone service or as part of a broader Landscape Design + Build.

What to expect

If lighting is part of a broader landscaping project, we plan it early so cabling, transformers and placement are neatly integrated and the garden still looks tidy in daylight. For standalone upgrades, we’ll assess the site, talk through how you use the space at night, then recommend a simple landscape lighting approach that suits the garden and the home.

  • It depends on the scope. A simple pathway lighting installation is a relatively modest addition. Feature lighting across a larger garden involves more cabling and planning. We'll give you a realistic range early in the conversation.

  • It depends on the size of the garden and what you want to achieve. Less is usually more; over-lit gardens lose the atmosphere that makes good lighting effective. We'll recommend the minimum needed to get the result you're after.

  • Paths and steps for safety, key trees or architectural planting for atmosphere, and entertaining areas for usability. Feature walls and retaining can work well too. We'll advise on what will actually make a difference and what's likely to look busy or unnecessary.
